British Columbia NAAACCC AGM Report--2006

* In British Columbia the NAAACCC is part of the Collector Car Club Council of BC. It meets with the Dept. of Motor Vehicles (ICBC) and AirCare on a regular basis. AirCare and the Dept.of Motor Vehicles (ICBC) work extremely well with the collector vehicle movement. We truly appreciate their open and frank approach. It has been a delight to work with both of these groups. A special thank you must go to Martin Lay, CEO of AirCare and to Peter Hill, Manger of Program Policy Aircare, and Collector Car Club Council Chairman. Also, a special thank you to Nigel Mathews, Manager of Specialty licensing for ICBC, and to Allyson Coffee of ICBC for their tireless efforts to ensure the collector vehicle hobby and the Corporation work together in harmony.

* In 2006 ICBC extended its modified collector plate program to include vehicles up to and including 1958. This was a collective effort by members of the SVA-BC, CCCC and many other concerned collector vehicle enthusiasts and groups in the Province. A special thank you to Keith Jackman, former Superintendent of Motor Vehicles. Keith was a key player in this achievement.

* The NAAACCC Club Liability Insurance program (Lloyds of London) has been very well received in BC and there are now over 50 clubs subscribing to the program in BC.

* BC has many local By-Law concerns that hopefully will be dealt with by Provincial organizations. This past year the NAAACCC tried to help three private individuals defend their right to have collector vehicles on their private property. The NAAACCC also was involved in the traffic vehilce ticketing of a VCCC member who was perceived to be driving his vintage truck too slow on a public highway. We are happy to report that the case was dismissed.

Best Wishes to all,

John Carlson
